Interest Groups

Purpose
OWL Interest Groups (“IGs”) are exclusive, curated communities that bring members together to connect around shared interests, professional challenges, or goals.
- Trusted, small-group conversations
- Targeted peer mentoring and knowledge sharing
- Greater visibility, engagement, and leadership opportunities within OWL
Structure
- Open to OWL Members
- Group size: 10–25 members to maintain intimacy and engagement
- Participants are expected to commit to active participation throughout the year
Meeting Frequency
Each IG will meet 2 to 3 times per year, virtually (or in-person at larger events), with optional asynchronous engagement

Clinicians & Industry
Objectives
The objectives of OWL's Clinicians & Industry Interest Group are:
- Provide insights, help and guidance on transitioning to industry roles and options for alternative career paths.
- Facilitate networking and peer support within a supportive community.
- Host educational and community-building events tied to major eyecare conferences (ASCRS, AAO, AAOpt).
- Amplify voices of diverse leaders within eyecare industry sectors.
The Purpose
The goal is to support, connect, and empower eye care professionals seeking non-clinical roles in ophthalmic industry - as well as foster a supportive network to share insights, career paths, and opportunities while promoting a diverse industry leadership.
The Program
Who will benefit from joining?
OWL Members who fall into these categories:
- Clinicians: Ophthalmologists, optometrists, residents, fellows, or clinicians with a strong interest in learning more about, transitioning to or working in or with industry.
- Industry Advisors: Current professionals in pharma, devices, medtech, consulting, or management.
